As you know this month is the Islamic holiday of Ramadan. This is a time of fasting for Muslims to cleanse their bodies, minds, and souls, and refocus on religion. One of my dear friends, who is an inspiration in at of herself, shared a story on Facebook yesterday about her co-worker who has decided to not bring a lunch to work at of respect and love for my friend. What makes this choice so brave is that this woman is also diabetic. On the surface this might seem like a small act of kindness but is in reality a stepping stone towards piece. Every time someone makes a choice respect someone and their religion they are reminding us that we are all one. We are all humans, and we are here to love and communicate one another. Though it seems that that all humans do is pick out our differences at they very base we are all simply blood and bones sharing a planet.
That is my inspiration for today. So from that inspiration I decided to make a basic collage with the world in the palm of hands and symbols of the five major religions around it. I also was lucky enough to also have a stamp that has Gandhi's immortal quote,"Be the Change You Wish to See in the World", on it. I hope it is a good representation and reminder that we have to respect and love one another.
